We’ve kind of taken a liking to Pinterest lately and it’s no wonder. It has resulted in large amounts of traffic to our craft site with very little effort. With a lot more effort, it resulted in even more. So as you can imagine, Pinterest is a primary focus for us right now.
So with this in mind, we have been focusing heavily on getting the right size for our Pinterest images. In a previous post, I mentioned that we were using 800×1200 which turned out to be a pretty good size to go with considering we found so many conflicting views on the subject. However, we finally came across the actual recommended settings from Pinterest for 2018 so it just prompted me to write up this blog post to set the record straight with the information coming straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
So here they are….
Best Pinterest Image Size for 2018
- The ideal aspect ratio is 2:3
- Recommended size of 600 x 900 for vertical images
- Recommended size of 600 x 600 for square images
Pinterest have always recommended long vertical images so it’s interesting that they are recommending the new square image size. It may be as some have suggested a way of allowing for more posting from other social sites like Facebook and Instagram where the more square image seems to be the norm.
Variations on Pinterest Image Sizes
Although Pinterest has specifically mentioned the sizes mentioned above, you still can post longer images. As long as you keep it under 1260px in length you are good to go, but any longer and Pinterest has indicated that they will cut the image. Only those who click the image will see the full version.
As a new Pinterest user, this was very helpful indeed! Thank you kindly.
No problem Christian, glad I could help.
